Learn best practices for lifelong, healthy vocal expression. Using the principles of Somatic Voicework™, the LoVetri Method, students develop and balance vocal registration (chest and head voice) and learn to navigate the “mix” to sing through their full range with consistency and control.
Each session includes targeted exercises designed to:
-
Maximize vocal range, flexibility, dynamics, and intonation
-
Promote comfort and consistency throughout the range
-
Address specific vocal challenges such as constriction, clarity, and breath support
-
Develop breath awareness and control
-
Condition the voice for all styles of Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM)
Selected jazz standards are assigned to practice applied technique, and students are encouraged to bring personal repertoire for analysis and application of vocal function principles. The course is designed to strengthen technique and develop healthy, sustainable vocal production.

About Andrea Claburn
Jazz vocalist, composer, arranger, and educator Andrea Claburn is a graduate of the California Jazz Conservatory (B.Mus) and UC Berkeley (B.A. Humanities), and is fully certified in Somatic Voicework™ the LoVetri Method (Vocal Pedagogy) at Baldwin Wallace University.
Andrea teaches vocal technique and function, performance, and improvisation, and performs regularly at prominent venues throughout the Bay Area. Born in Baltimore and raised in Northern California, she grew up studying classical piano and violin in both solo and orchestral settings before turning to jazz.
She brings deep musical understanding to her vocal style, using her voice with an instrumental precision that jazz critic L.R. Bailey called “riveting to hear.” She regularly collaborates with Bay Area musicians including Erik Jekabson, Michael O’Neill, Matt Clark, and Peter Barshay, and has been featured as both an arranger and vocalist with the Electric Squeezebox Orchestra.
