Jazz vocalist/composer/arranger/educator Andrea Claburn is a graduate of the California Jazz Conservatory (B.Mus), UC Berkeley (B.A. Humanities), and is fully certified in Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method (Vocal Pedagogy) from Baldwin Wallace University. Andrea teaches vocal technique/function, performance, and improvisation, regularly performing at prominent venues throughout the Bay Area. Born in Baltimore and raised in Northern California, Andrea grew up studying classical piano and violin in both solo and orchestral settings before turning to jazz. She brings deep musical understanding to her exceptional vocal style, using her voice with an instrumental precision that jazz critic L.R. Bailey called “riveting to hear.” She regularly collaborates with Bay Area jazz luminaries Erik Jekabson, Michael O’Neill, Matt Clark, and Peter Barshay, and has been featured as both an arranger and vocalist with the celebrated Bay Area big band, The Electric Squeezebox Orchestra.
