As a music educator, you’re balancing festivals, football games, and fundamentals. Sometimes, a fresh voice is all it takes to help a student finally “click” with a swing feel or find their confidence in a solo.

Jazzschool In the Schools brings the Bay Area’s finest jazz faculty directly into your band room. These aren’t passive lectures; they are high-energy, hands-on coaching sessions designed to reinforce your curriculum and get your students playing with more intent and authenticity.

Choose Your Clinic Focus

We tailor our visit to your current rehearsal needs. Whether you’re prepping for a festival or just starting a jazz unit, choose the track that fits:

• The Improvisation Lab (Combos or Sections): Demystifying soloing through call-and-response and melodic development. Perfect for getting students past “scale-itis.”
• Big Band Interpretation (Full Ensemble): Covering phrasing, unified articulation, and the nuances of swing, funk, or Latin grooves.
• The Rehearsal Intensive (Performance Prep): A “guest conductor” style session focused on ensemble balance, rhythmic pocket, and performance polish.

How it Works

1. Request: Fill out the brief inquiry form below.
2. Consult: Our coordinator will reach out to match you with a clinician who fits your ensemble’s needs.
3. Collaborate: You and the clinician connect briefly to discuss repertoire and goals.
4. Clinic Day: We join your scheduled class period (60–90 minutes) for a high-impact rehearsal.
5. Follow-up: We ask you to fill out a brief survey with feedback; send photos of your clinic; and help us connect with students in your program who might want to join an ensemble at the Jazzschool with scholarship support.
