Offered on a Sliding Scale—from Free to Affordable—Based on Your School’s Need

As a music educator, you’re balancing festivals, performances, rehearsals, and fundamentals. Sometimes a fresh perspective can help students make an important connection—whether it’s finding a stronger swing feel, becoming more confident improvisers, or hearing the ensemble in a new way.

Jazzschool In the Schools brings experienced Jazzschool faculty directly into your band room for hands-on coaching designed to complement your teaching and support the work you’re already doing with your students.

Choose Your Clinic Focus

We tailor each visit to your ensemble’s current needs. Whether you’re preparing for a festival or introducing students to jazz, possible areas of focus include:

• Improvisation (Combos or Sections): Developing confidence and fluency through call-and-response, melodic development, ear training, and other practical approaches to soloing.
• Big Band Interpretation (Full Ensemble): Phrasing, articulation, ensemble balance, and stylistic approaches to swing, funk, Latin, and other jazz-related grooves.
• Rehearsal and Performance Preparation: A focused rehearsal addressing ensemble balance, rhythmic feel, musical communication, and preparation for an upcoming performance or festival.

Clinics can also be tailored around other goals identified by the director.

How It Works

1. Request: Fill out the brief inquiry form below.
2. Consult: Our coordinator will contact you to learn more about your ensemble and match you with an appropriate clinician.
3. Collaborate: You and the clinician connect briefly in advance to discuss repertoire, student needs, and goals for the session.
4. Clinic Day: The clinician joins your scheduled class period for a 60–90 minute rehearsal or clinic.
5. Follow-Up: We’ll ask you to complete a brief feedback survey and, when possible, share photos from the clinic. We can also provide information about Jazzschool youth ensembles and scholarship opportunities for interested students.
