Jeff Brown, a Bay Area native, is a musician and educator whose passion lies in spreading the joyful and healing power of music. He earned a BM in Jazz Studies from Cal State Northridge, going on to a teaching assistantship position at the University of Nevada, Reno where he earned his Masters in saxophone performance alongside instructing a combo and directing the jazz ensemble. Brown is currently an adjunct professor at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, where he has directed the jazz ensemble, jazz combos and instructed saxophone lessons. In addition to teaching, he also performs regularly around the Bay Area in many different contexts. He feels very fortunate to have worked with numerous impactful mentors, educators and organizations that provided a space to deepen his connection to music. Having gone through the Jazzschool’s Young Musician Program, he sees teaching at the Jazzschool as a full circle moment and an opportunity to help create the same spaces for others.
