How do experienced singers call a tune and help a band begin and end it smoothly, even when the musicians do not regularly perform together?

This hands-on workshop explores practical strategies for creating clear, manageable, and musically effective intros and endings. With live guitar accompaniment from Bob Brumbeloe, participants will work through songs, practice communicating musical directions to an accompanist or band, and experiment with different ways of shaping the beginning and ending of an arrangement.

The workshop also covers the basic musical vocabulary singers need to communicate effectively with instrumentalists, along with creative approaches for giving a song a more personal shape. Participants will have plenty of opportunities to sing and apply the concepts in real time.

Designed for singers who want to feel more prepared and confident in jam sessions, gigs, rehearsals, and other live settings.

Level

Open to singers of all levels.
