Sandy Cressman

Sandy Cressman is an international performing and recording artist, educator, and clinician specializing in Brazilian music and Latin jazz. Educated at University of California, Berkeley and San Jose State University, she has served as an artist-in-residence or lecturer at institutions and festivals including the Jazz Education Network Conference, Cornish College of the Arts, San Francisco State University, CSU Long Beach, KUG University in Graz, Austria, ASMM in Paris, the Voice Conference Munich, JazzCamp West, Stanford Jazz Camp, and California Brazil Summer Camp. Sandy has performed and recorded with such diverse artists as Taj Mahal, Jai Uttal, Ray Obiedo, Pete Escovedo, and many more. Cressman has toured the US, Europe, and Brazil and has released three critically acclaimed CDs, which feature original music she composed with contemporary Brazilian composers such as Jovino Santos Neto, Antonio Adolfo, Ian Faquini, and more. In 2023, Cressman was awarded the San Francisco Art Commission’s Artist Grant for her project “Cantos do Povo: The Music of Milton Nascimento”, for which she produced a music/dance concert that was performed at SFJAZZ, at Jerry Garcia Amphitheatre in San Francisco, and at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
