High School Jazz Intensive

July 22 – 26, 2013

Advanced-High-School-Jazz-

A five-day jazz intensive for advanced high school jazz instrumentalists!

Six to eight advanced high school musicians are selected to work closely with top Bay Area jazz artists for a week of rehearsals, master classes, and private lessons. A departure from the typical one-instructor-to-an-ensemble model, the student group meets daily with a complete ensemble of seasoned professional musicians working to develop improvisation and arrangement/composition skills in an intensive rehearsal format. The program meets daily from 10 am – 4 pm and concludes with a performance at the Jazzschool. Each participant receives a professional-quality recording of the concert!

Openings for all rhythm section instruments and horns.

Artistic director Dr. Michael Zilber is the director of the Jazzschool’s multiple Downbeat award-winning Advanced High School Jazz
Workshop.
