Latin Jazz Ensemble (Winter 2013)

An exciting intermediate-advanced level ensemble for high school musicians students interested in gaining a greater understanding of Latin jazz and rhythms while developing improvisation skills through the study and performance of challenging repertoire. Middle School Honor Big Band (Spring 2013)

Modeled after the award-winning Jazzschool Studio Band, this advanced-level middle school big band brings together middle school students from throughout the Bay Area to provide training and performance opportunities. Students develop technique, knowledge of jazz style and an ability to improvise through challenging literature appropriate for the advancing middle school musician. The 10-week session ends with a performance at Yoshi’s Oakland with the Jazzschool Studio Bands, Monday, June 3, 2013! To schedule and audition please contact keith@jazzschool.org.

• Rehearsals will take place at the Jazzschool on Tuesday nights from 6:30-8pm
• First rehearsal is Tuesday, April 2, 2013 (first week of spring quarter)
• Performance is Monday, June 3, 2013 at Yoshi’s Oakland
