A performance ensemble for intermediate and advanced students using harmonic analysis to learn jazz standards in all 12 keys. Students learn to memorize tunes, transpose on the spot, and create substitution harmony. Instructor familiarizes students with the “hip changes” — the chord substitutions most typically used by jazz musicians.

An intermediate/advanced level salsa performance ensemble, this class is now linked to the Salsa Singing class taught by Edgardo Cambón. The two separate classes learn the same material and combine halfway through the term to continue the development.

This hands-on class introduces intermediate- and advanced-level percussion students to several challenging Afro-Venezuelan styles. Students learn on traditional Venezuelan drums and hand percussion instruments.
