An intermediate-level ensemble focusing on compositions by jazz masters including Coltrane, Monk, Shorter and others. Emphasis on understanding and internalizing a variety of essential grooves. Class time is also dedicated to the study of jazz harmony, as applied to selected jazz repertoire.
